I have got SONY VAIO-NW226F and it have got pre-installed Windows 7 Home Prem OA, which was brought from USA. Some days ago the operating system was crashed and I have to install again.
I got Windows 7 Home premium DVD and re-installed it. But the product key is not working.
What I have to do. And It is not possible to get the original DVD from USA. And the product key which is with me in the back of the Netbook is useless or not.
I don't know much about this, but I thought all MS Win 7 installer DVDs were same. (like Vista.. alright Home Basic was a CD, but who the hell cares about that :) )
I pretty much don't know what I'm talking about, but maybe OEM installs (like yours) must have a different installer disk (IMHO), since their keys require a different kind of check and verification is based on BIOS (well, I know this crap. But I promise I won't misuse it :) )
And getting back to your problem, not only you will have problem with your key, but probably with the drivers too if you don't get the original installer disk. look for someone with the same model laptop and installer disk but use your key to verify. If you don't find any, go for ELMS license and install it (hope you are a student or will remain a student as long as you want to use Win 7) and then get the drivers (yes they are large in size, but what other options you got?) from the sony support website (hope they have one).
BTW, did you check if they ship the disk from their website itself. If you don't have money at paypal (well if they accept paypal that is), you can get money to your Paypal (lets say you have a non-nepali verified paypalaccount) if you pay them with Nrs hand cash. I'm sure you have a lot of such guys around. Or If you don't have paypal, you can ask guys with one to do so.
Best of luck man. I know that is sickening.
PS: if you are interested in any other operating systems (besides windows), I'm sure they will need no drivers as such. For eg, Ubuntu will work right out of the default installtion, IMHO.

in that case talk to your hardware vendor which is Sony. See if you get any help.
